Day of Days Interview with James Scott

Posted by: admin In: Uncategorized

By Amy & Jabie Plouf

First, James Scott is a great interview and it is always a pleasure to speak with him about Days and acting in general. I asked James about how he prepares for the really emotional scenes where he has to cry. Watch the video for the surprising answer on the three methods used by actors and how he does it.

Wow!! Congrats to you, Amy and Jabie! What a great conversation with James Scott. You were able to ask great and thoughtul questions about his acting approach and get such crisp and direct answers from him.

I am in awe. He is an incredible actor. It is hard to imagine he did not readily recall the scenes in DiMera mansion after he confessed he still loved Samantha. We have probably watched those scenes over and over again. And to think he may not have ever seen the final cut from the show.
    **
So glad Jabie brought up the scenes from last year when Baby Grace died. I cannot even imagine which new scenes he has just finished that brought EJ to tears again in such an open way.

Loved it! To me that interview alone would have made the trip to LA worthwhile and a complete success.

  • Michael Jenkins

favorite actor on the show, thanks so much :)

  • Hannah

WOW! I am so happy for you both, that you got to conduct such an engaging interview with James Scott. He is by FAR my favorite soap actor of ALL TIME. I appreciate you asking questions on his acting pedagogy and I thought it most interesting that he doesn’t know what is going on in other storylines. But his method makes sense if you think long and hard about it. Can’t wait to watch the scenes where EJ cries – guess we’ll have to wait until January, as they are filming epis right now that should air in early January.

I guess the fact that the actors have little to no rehearsal time with one another proves how talented they really are. The fact that they have “homework” makes me respect them all the more – especially since I understand as I’m a teacher and always have “homework”.

I also thought it funny that he didn’t immediately reference the June 30th epi of EJ’s declaration of love to Sami – scenes that I have personally watched a gazillion times.

Well done! LOVED IT! Thanks for sharing it with us!

great interview. JS always seems willing to give his time and his responses are well thought out even with the press bunnies hovering in the back-ground.

I appreciate that he puts in the effort to cry a real cry. I think that we, as the audience can really feel the difference, and that’s why we can’t help but cry right along with him (at least I can’t.) Bravo to JS and the gang for all their hard work and dedication!

Thanks Amy and Jabie for posting this. What a great interview. That’s what I love about JS he puts so much into his acting and making it real and it shows. There are sl that can draw you in and make you feel emotions but it takes a great actor to be able to make you feel what they feel in any given circumstance and JS definately has that talent, IMO. Thanks again.

Jabie and Amy you treated us to a real treat with James Scott. I always love his interviews whether I’m reading an article out of a magazine or watching him on over the internet. The fact that he does these video blog interviews speak volumes of his dedication to his craft and fans. I’ve read somewhere else that James Scott doesn’t watch his work too, so it was refreshing to hear his reason why out of his mouth.
Oh, and the reason why people thinks of Ej DiMera as such a family guy is because he is about family. Look at Sonny on General Hospital, he runs a mafia; but still his family ranks number one in his life. That is what make the bad guys like Ej on DOOL, Sonny on GH, and Todd on OLTL so appealing because of their love for their family, and the complexity behind finding that balance of love with their hectic lifestyles.
