Tonya and I both thought Sami’s acting was really good during the wedding confrontation scene. But then EJ blew her away with his drunk self-destruction scenes. Wow! Daytime Emmys!

I do NOT get why Sami told Rafe it was her Grandma on the phone and didn’t tell him that EJ wants to take the kids away. That made NO sense. I know Sami is a great liar, but that seemed really out of character for her!

I really hope Ej did not shot his self.. I think what would be good is that the bullet is fake and he got it all Sami shooting him.. Wow that would be a good one. Then him and Ari get together and piss Sami and Rafe off..

Wow. Congratulations on the contact with John Callahan. Just love him – pls Days — bring him back soon.

Amy – I agree with you on the Ken Corday book. I think there was defintely “revisionist” thinking and writing with regard to the show — and how a lot of things fell out especially in the last 6 years or so.

As I understand it, Corday had sent the final draft back to the editors at end of Dec 2009. When Frances Reid passed away – they wrote an amendment right before printing. When I met James Scott at the FLCE event and had him autograph the book – he asked me had I read it. He said that Corday had given actors like Scott a chance read gallies — and James Scott said that he had added EJ late in the process to the Villian chapter.

Ken Corday should be praised for all he has done to keep the show on the air. But it is more than apparent that he is not close to the day-to-day. It is not surprising that he and the show would do whatever it takes to get viewers back – even a suicide – related story. Dont think that EJ is /has committed suicide. But I agree they are more than hinting at suicidal thoughts. Days is not a player in providing detailed stories with the intent to really inform and entertain. Look at the autism story, Leukemia, Alcoholism — these are touched on – but I cannot recall a Great story in this area.

I think that James Scott and Alison Sweeney have given stellar performances – even though I dont really like the sl – as it has evolved to-date. James Scott is magnificent and he has to win an Emmy for these performances — jsut magnetic – no matter how painful. Kudos to the makeup folks too — it is hard to make that man look bad.

Loved the flashback with Baby Johnny today – gave more depth to the dispair JS was giving EJ.

AS tweeted that she and JS were very proud of the work they had done on the story as it is evolving this week. Amen to that.

Nichole bunking with Daniel and Chloe can’t be good! LOL! Yea, Dan and Nichole were getting chummy on that bench. Ari has chemistry with Shawn too! So Nichole is out of the Brady orbit and into Daniel/Chloe/Phil/Melanie/Nathan/Stephanie and Carly orbit! Oy Vey!

I love the cat that was running around in the background while you guys were giving your recap…what a cute little kitty…lol.

I can’t watch this clip while at work, but will definitely do so when I go home! I also thought about the possibility that EJ attempts suicide – it does fit with his character currently and the despair he feels. Perhaps Sami envisions herself shooting him – when she snaps out of her vision, she notices EJ is bleeding. Because she doesn’t know if she shot him or not, she takes the gun and high-tails it out of there. It COULD be an explanation…just my thought. (and makes sense as we see portions of the scene shot through the perspective of the mirror.)

Wow, I am so glad that Kate called Sami. I am really surprised though. She probably did it so she can be on her good side when it all come out. Also, Amy and Jabie, your cat is wild in the background. He really wants some attention from Mommy and Daddy, lol!

I agree.. I don’t like suicide ect.. but that was a great scene. Suicide does exist and I don’t think that showing it on Days was a bad thing as long as they don’t glamorize it.. I am hoping that EJ will get some help as I think he’s been slowly circling the insanity area for a long time.. Bipolar maybe.. He’s up and then he’s down.. then he gets even by being the most vicious person ever, the “rape”, shooting John Black in the boathouse, having sex with Kate (if that’s not enough to make you commit suicide), back and forth between women.. Nicole, Sami, flirting with Arianna, seems there has been some others too.. just can’t think. He’s either in a happy mood or a horridly wicked mode.. maybe not bi polar but schizophrenic. No wonder by having Susan Banks as his Mom and Stephano as his Father. He really could use a good shrink. OH and let’s not forget what all these women have done to him over the years.. Taking his children, lying that he has a child and finds out long after that it was miscarried.. and Sami not telling him that “Grace” was his.. and not til she had died did he know.. finding out that Sydnea was his and Sami’s and not his with Nicole.. his children ripped from his arms.. having Lucas shoot him in the back while marrying Sami and that was all done by barter pretty much. The man has been through hell and back.. most of it brought on by himself but also some pretty wicked women. He really could use some Zoloft and a good shrink. I don’t think he’s dead.. or shot. I bet when he stuck that gun up to his temple as hard as he did.. he probably smacked himself with it and knocked himself unconscious.. he was drunk any way so thump in the head might put him out. Gun was in the wrong hand when Sami found him.. he’s not right handed he’s left handed…and he used his left hand to put the gun up to his head.. so I am wondering why? Big blooper??

Does anyone know IF & WHEN everyone will find out that Nicole (evil forever) framed Arianna & put her in jail. Is it possible this is just gonna slip thru the cracks & she just gets away with yet another crime??… I just hope Brady finds out and is truly done with her for good. I don’t think I could stand Brady forgiving & forgetting everything she has done.

I agree, I find Ken Corday rather hypocrytical and extremely derogatory on some accounts. Especially when he talks about James E. Reilly. He acts like the man did nothing good for Days which is extremely untrue. I’m sure he made Ken millions during his run in the 90s and JER helped make DOOL even more of a household name than it already was. Not to mention he brought DOOL up to 2nd place in the ratings, and even rivaled Y&R for a while. So when Ken says things about JER I get defensive. Say what you want about his term in the 2000′s (writing for 2 shows is insanely difficult I’m sure) but DOOL would not be what it is with Reilly. And it makes me upset whenever I read another pot-shot Corday’s taking at a dead man who can’t even defend his memory.

That is a very interesting theory Amy….I hadn’t thought that maybe perhaps EJ did shoot himself. In that case, however, Sami must be a terrible aim.

Obviously they aren’t going to kill off EJ. So, I’m hoping we see Arianna by his bedside, sticking up for him when (I’m sure) Sami & Rafe will be trying to make sure he kicks the bucket. We’ll see though….All I know is EJ better get the heck outta the hospital and soon b/c I want to see at least 1 amazing Ari-EJ scene before it’s all over!

Hey Amy, what page is that on? The one of where Ken said he’d never touch the subject of suicide? I just purchased the book but haven’t got to that point yet. I would love to jump ahead! Because, yeah, there are SEVERAL things that he “never would do” and has done (EX: Killing Zach, EJ’s “suicide” attempt). Please let me know, thanks!

I thought that I read that Ken Corday would not do a suicide storyline because it hit too close to home. I will not say why, in case you have not read the book.
I also would like to see John Callahan back on Days. He is a great talent. Love his facial expressions when delivering a line. James Scott has improved on that since he started on the show. He is more than just a pretty face now. I noticed that Days brings on pretty people then trains them. I would like to see more characters that Look like Chloe’s mom. Give the actress that plays Maxine a storyline and give her a family. Another talent wasted.

Just watched the 9/1 episode. I thought I had all these original ideas, but you guys (Amy/Jabie) took the words right out of my mouth!
I loved Kate calling Sami & any time Kate/Sami bond. I totally think there is Nicole/Daniel potential (although I don’t think Nicole will “out” Chloe, I think it will come out some other way, & then they’ll cry on each other’s shoulders).
Not sure how it will play out, but I don’t think Sami will be the E.J. shooter (oh, & even when EJ looks bad, he looks good).

Veronica, I hear ya to some extent, I expected Sami to tell Rafe that Kate called. But I think when she left him, she said, “I can’t let you get in trouble for me”, so maybe she was trying to protect him? And technically, is Kate her grandmother (in-law), so maybe not a total lie?

Oh, and you shouldn’t need to be defended, but I’m glad so many people had your back. You take time out of your busy lives to provide us a service/entertainment. Thank you.

I for one, did not like Sami jumping into bed with

Yes, Nicole and Daniel are getting just too close, that is the ultimate “hit the bottom” for Nicole.
Her only friend takes her in then she screws her man; time for the bus ticket out of town!

I have to add, I don’t want to see Nicole and Daniel together. I actually kindof liked Rafe and Nicole. But for me to truly enjoy them long-term, I’d want him to want to be with Nicole over anyone else, instead of using and sleazing her. But still my all-time fave Nikki coupling is still Nicole and Victor. Sure I didn’t like them in an “oh they’re so cute” way. It was always more like an “oh I can’t believe he/she just did that to the other one, payback’s a b*tch” kind of way.

Hello All, made it through another episode without losing my lunch during the SAFE scenes. Sami, Sami if you so love and trust Rafe why the lie? Was quite shocked that Kate called Sami and she (Sami) actually listened. Good to see Will can still see the good in Stefano despite Grandma Caroline’s tirade. Do all the Brady’s paint themselves as victims?? Drives me nuts.
BTW when did Grandma Caroline take the nasty pill? or has she been hitting the clam juice? Lately her remarks have been quite cutting.

Can anyone explain Kate’s blue hair, matched her outfit perfectly. Outfit was not one of her best–she looks good in the boho chic style (jeans, chunky jewels, long coats).

I swear if Sami is responsible for shooting EJ I will smack her silly, anger I can understand, homicide I can’t. The scene with Lexie was terrific–the love between the brother and sister sure did shine thru. Don’t know if I have anymore tears left or kleenex for that matter.

Amy thanks for reminding me, Sami leaves the bed after Rafe falls asleep. Mr. Clueless rolls over hugs the pillow and mumurs “Sami”. Would you not wake up if you expected a warm body next to you not a cold pillow? Glad to see Salem is quite safe with Mr. Clueless……

I like Rafe, but “Mr. Clueless” is funny…
I love Kate/Lauren’s edgy look…bring on the blue hair and the chunky jewelry! I wish I could pull it off!

I really don’t think Sami shot E.J. My guess is she found him that way and decided not to help him (which is still pretty bad), but I think Sami shooting him is just too obvious, and doesn’t work w/ the story. (All we really see is a bloody ear…he could have just hit himself in the head w/ the gun or something).

Today’s (Thurs) episode was awesome. Love the scenes w/ Nicole and Daniel…first time in a while I’ve enjoyed Chloe/Daniel scenes, but mostly cuz Nicole is bringin it!

I finally brought myself to watch yesterday’s epi, although it was difficult to watch EJ – but what STELLAR acting on JS’s part. He should get an Emmy “nod” this year again – and he should win! If he doesn’t, I’ll be MORE than floored.

I’m still not convinced that Sami is the shooter. I still hold fast that she imagines shooting him, snaps out of it and then flips out b/c the gun is in her hand and his head is bleeding. EJ’s attempted suicide is shot through the mirror – he IS holding the gun with his right hand, not his left, although it appears opposite. Therefore, a few things are possible: either EJ shot himself, Sami imagines shooting him and then snaps out of it and she’s holding the gun; Sami does in fact shoot him; or someone else did.

Tomorrow’s epi will be hard to watch – with Stefano discovering EJ’s body.

Stefano is one of my favorite characters and when he told Kate he loved her I just went “Ah” the old hound dog still has it in him. Despite what Kate thinks Stefano really does care for Will and he would have fessed up if EJ had told him of the CD existance. A feeling of betrayal will abosrb Will but hopefully he will be able to see Stefano does really care for him and wanted to spare further hurt. Maybe I am ready too much into this. My assistant says I am OBESESSED which I am proud to say is a 40 year obsession.

Hannah, I just love your posts and comments, you always make me think of other possibilities. If Corday is smart he will replace Dena as head writer and move up the Cuillions (sp) as they are just hitting it out of the park. Or maybe he can offer all who post on this site a one week rotation as head writer because I think our story ideas do have merit.

Marcia – so glad you are here w/us on Daystalk!! You must stay… and I completely agree about Richard and Carolyn Cuillitons – the husband and wife writing team! They have great resumes incl being head writers. In addition – they are GREAT dialogue writers. Although – I like to think JS and AS are the real MAGIC in all of these powerful scenes.

I took 3 page of notes tonight while watching Soapnet tonight. So many details…jsut a a great epi – even though I hated to see EJ bleed and convulse. Hope they find him soon at the mansion and get him to the hospital in the hands of Daniel!! With all of Nathan’s elbow probs – dont want him operating on EJ at ALL.

I am convinced TODAY – that Sami did not shoot EJ. Here’s why — her hair in the bed with Rafe (ugh) was down as many have noted. When she is at the mansion looking for EJ… her hair is up — but not just up — still in the formal hairstyle she had for the wedding (AS has a post and instructions on her website talking abt the haristyle and how well it held over long period. Could be a hint to all of us.) When she takes the gun and goes to the pier – her hair is down as it was in bed. She throws the gun in the water JUST LIKE EJ threw the bloody baby clothes months ago. She and EJ are “mirroring”" each other’s actions.

Also – I read in another post or website and watched for this today – When Sami hears the voices in her head — she hears EJ saying that he loves her Multiple times in the epi. We only hear Kate’s warning and EJ’s voice telling Sami that Baby Sydney . s dead one time each.

To me, Sami is fighting more against the love that she knows EJ has for her — much more than she is “afraid” that he will steal or hurt her children.

Philip and Brady have been repeating for months how much they want Chloe to be happy. I am now looking forward to seeing who Chloe winds up with — in the end. I am still slightly leaning toward Philip bc I think he is the father of the Baby. If in fact, Chloe is pregnant and this has not been a part of a dream sequence.

I suspect either Brady or Philip will be drinking and driving and accidently hit and kill the character who is due to depart Days soon. Maybe, either Phil or Brady will be injured in the accident and some of their situations will have been dreams. Just pray they do not show Phil and Chloe love scene flashback ever again – even if it turns out to be a dream.

Amy you are so cute when John became your friend. I’m taking Sami shooting Ej as face vaule because it seems so odd that Ej would kill himself after what Ken wrote in his book. As for Nicole and Dr Dirty Dan No No No and No. It was bad enough watching Nicole and Rafe but please no STDan. Jabie I have you know being an Ejami fan that I’m not on any drugs or suicide watch. I’m so sick of Caroline and her love for Rafe. I think that she’s just pissy because Victor is spending time with Maggie. This may sound sad but she reminds me of my Grandmother who was bitter because she stayed in a loveless marriage for the kids.

I thought it was just me who noticed how NASTY Grandma Caroline has become. Yesterday, really made me realize how much like Sami Caroline is. She wants Victor but will not admit to herself that she still lusts after him. Being a Catholic born & bred I understand being afraid of lust as the Church says it’s one of the seven deadly sins (but the one that is the most fun).

The lust Sami feels for EJ is so powerful that it really scares her. If she does not watch out she will become like Grandma Caroline, mean and full of disappointment.

I don’t think Sami was the one who shot EJ but if she did then I’ve officially lost all respect for Sami. Her dad, uncle, and aunt are all cops. Her godfather was a cop, her uncle was with ISA, her boyfriend is FBI, and her ex-husband has shot a person before yet Sami can’t connect at point blank range. It looks like she just grazed his ear and the side of his head with the bullet. Remember this Sami “squeeze don’t pull”. Sami has disappointed me for the last time.

I really don’t know how to feel about Caroline right now. When it comes to the Bo & Hope stuff she gets on my nerves because like Julie she’s treating Bo & Carly like crap when they’re actually blameless when it comes to the downfall of Bo & Hope. But when it comes to Sami and Will at least she has some valid points when she’s trying to convince them of stuff. I applauded when she called Will stupid because I was thinking the same thing. Listening to Will talk about how no one had any proof that Stefano had anything to do with the kidnapping all I could think was, he is truly his mother’s child.

Maybe we should cut Caroline some slack…in almost every scene we see Sean’s flag in the background. Really, what else does she have besides her children/grandchildren/great-grandchildren (o.k., I guess that’s a lot), but I don’t blame her for being defensive and cranky.

Totally unrelated to anything going on right now….does anyone else miss the “new John Black”? He was so funny, but had and honest and somewhat soft-spot too.

The “new” John had me on the floor. rewatching all of 2008 on You Tube and I forgot how many great one liners he had. I would love to see he and Victor trade quips.

EJ did not committ sucidie, if that was the case my days of watching days would be over.

Either Caroline needs to just give in and be with Victor(which I hope not, because she’d be fourth on the women I’d pick for Victor) or she needs to find a new man bcause she’s actually crankier than Victor, which is weird considering Victor’s married to Vivian right now. A person with that many loved ones in town should not be that cranky.

Michael Jenkins, I personally believe that when he passed out, the gun accidentally went off, grazing his head and that it wasn’t intentional (that’s what my ideal heart wants to believe). If Sami is truly the shooter as the scene suggests, I think I will lose it. As for now, I’m going to wait and see if it is proven that she is the real shooter.

Libby, thanks for your comments about Sami’s hair. I love how much you pay attention to detail. There is definitely something to note about that. Her hair is definitely up for the shooting (rechecked the clip) and then down at the pier. This suggests to me a dream or vision or something. I hope that this is intentional and not just an editing faux pas.

Karen M. I am sad Shawn is dead don’t get me wrong but I feel and always felt Caroline only married and stayed with Shawn because he was a “good” man not because she loved him. I know meny women who do this and its not uncommon for women to do back then. As I said my grandmother did it as well as her sister. They give up love for stability. That’s how I saw Caroline marriage to Shawn. I think thats how Victor saw thier marriage too and why he was hurt she turned him away after Shawn death. I find her bitter. Maybe she does see herself in Sami and thinks she should be with a “good” guy. But I really feel you can’t be happy if there’s stability but no love. I think Caroline is the person who died inside.

I say possible b/c I saw a post on NBC site that on the Forbidden Love website a “spoiler” indicated EJ has left Sami his assets and property…and that she and Rafe along with the kids move into the mansion? I hope this is wrong – has anyone read anything like this? This “sl” just doesn’t seem right to me……..be still my EJAMI heart. I just don’t know how much more absurdity I can take……hoping this is just made up by an EJAMI-hater or something…..

Jennifer M, I do think that Caroline was with Shawn because he was the opposite of Victor, but I do feel that she actually loved Shawn as well. Maybe not with her whole heart but I’d say at least 45% of it. I can understand why Caroline turned Victor away after Shawn died. He is still involved in questionable business activities, the last time he tried to get with her was in the middle of the Kiriakis-Dimera feud, which could re-ignite at the drop of a hat, plus its got to be weird to be attracted to a guy that once raped one of your daughters(though by Salem standards its not that weird). But Caroline’s problem is that even though she won’t be with Victor she doesn’t want anyone else to be with him either. She wants it both ways….much like Sami.

I admire both of your writing skills. Just a bit envious, my Dad and Sister both write. My gig is numbers, boring but a comfortable way to make a living. Both you ladies need to send in your script(s) but first register it with the WGA, it will cost about $20 to register Go to their website wga.org for instructions. That way if ANYONE on the DOOL writing staff uses your idea you can be compensated as you will be considered a “Guild” writer. T

Hannah – on the FL site that was a speculation not a spoiler, thank goodness. I think we Ejami’s can only take so much and some of us are already at our limit. Sami does have PA so she will be the one to decide for Ej medically and from the spoilers I’ve read looks like things are going to stay ugly for a while. Some great stuff coming up between Sami and Stefano though, he doesn’t mince words with her and tells it like it is. Should be good.

Ron, you cracked me up w/ your 45%! My husband is always breaking things down to percentages…even things that are not typically measured w/ numbers.

Now Libby’s hair theory has me questioning myself. But I was thinking maybe Sami saw how upset E.J. was, heard the “I love you” over and over in her head, and saw the picture Johnny drew, etc., so she took the gun away from him to prevent him from hurting himself when he woke up from his drunken bender.

It whould be mandatory when you join the DOOL writing staff you read the show bible and also watch past episodes. It drives me nuts when they do not incorporate the full rich history of the show into current storylines.

Does anyone remember much about EJ’s Mom–watched a 2007 YT epi where Susan Banks was mentioned? Who played her and what was her story line? What year did it occur? Any info would be appreciated….
