How the Rumor Started
Posted by: admin In: Uncategorized
I read on the blog about the possible cancellation of Days. I did a bit of research and I think I may have found where the rumor started. On Wikipedia, the Day’s entry says this:
“As with other soap operas, Days ratings have declined since the 1990s. In January 2007 it was suggested by NBC that the show “is unlikely to continue [on NBC] past 2009.”[31] In November 2008, in an eleventh-hour decision, it was announced the show had been renewed and now will be on the air through September 2010. The 18-month renewal was down from its previous renewal, which was for five years. The show has made somewhat of a comeback in 2009, with ratings increasing as the year progressed.”
So, I’m guessing that people have read this and are concerned that it won’t be renewed in September. With the rating improving in 2009, there may be a chance that it will continue.
I’m crossing my fingers. I’ve been watching Days since I was old enough to remember. My Mom and I used to watch it together before I started school, she recorded it for me until I was old enough to do it myself and then I arranged my schedule in college so that I wouldn’t miss it. We even had a Days watching group on my hall in the dorm building. Needless to day, I’m a bit of a fan.
I think I’ll send out a few more e-mails and see if I can pin down a definite answer about this. I’ll let you know.

I read on the blog about the possible cancellation of Days. I did a bit of research and I think I may have found where the rumor started. On Wikipedia, the entry regarding Days says this, discusses the decline in ratings since the 1990s for all soaps. NBC did elude to Days being unlikely to continue past 2009. A last minute decision allowed the show another 18-months. This takes us to September of 2010. The renewal was considerably shorter than it’s usual 5 years.
So, I’m guessing that people have read this and are concerned that it won’t be renewed in September. With the ratings improving in 2009, rising to a tie for second place, it seems highly likely for Days to again be renewed. Hopefully for 5 years this time. I don’t want to wait on eggshells again!
