Should We Panic?

Posted by: admin In: Uncategorized

parade

Parade magazine eluded today to Days ending in September. Read it here. The Internet is all abuzz with speculation.  The way I read it, it is only Parade magazine’s hypothesis cleverly placed right after a quote from Suzanne Rogers. On first glance, one might read it as coming from her directly. I certainly thought that, although it didn’t make sense. The actors are much too professional for that type of disclosure.

This rumor has been weighing heavy on all of our minds. But is there any truth in it? And what should we do? Will letters help? Jabie and I might have to consider a suicide pact.

Why would Parade magazine be the first to break the news of Days being cancelled in September? I pray this is all rumor and speculation. My birthday is in Sept, what a terrible 25th birthday present that would be:(

  • Dusty Carpenter

I have been watching days for 25 years now. I would hate to see it go.

  • melody

All I can say is they better NOT take Days off. I’ve grew up with that soap and I’m still watching it today. Don’t mess with Days it’s the best soap on television!!

  • alycia rashea

Trust me we all will join in to save our favorite show if that ever was the case… It is the best soap ever!!
We love the show and the amazing cast!!

So it ain’t so Joe. I’ve been watching since 1971. If Days is canceled, I may just get rid of my TV.

  • sam

i am seriously not even going to respond to this speculation! i have been watching days since the early 70′s! story lines come and go but the families remain strong…and strong in their faith. so refreshing this day and age. don’t get me wrong, they have their moral issues and issue in general, but who doesn’t…it IS tv.

  • tammy

ARE YALL NUTS????THE BEST SOAP EVER AND THE BEST CHARACTERS, WHY WOULD YOU CANCEL AN AWESOME SOAP LIKE THIS?
    ?

  • Lacy

If Days goes off the air, I prolly will die. I’ve been watching since I was 3 years old. My mother and I used to watch together. She can answer all the trivia questions they used to do during commericals.

I checked on NBC.com and they don’t have any news about the show going off. There was no comments on the message board about it ending. I promise to get to the bottom of this though.

  • http://Angie Angie Everts

Please…. NO NO NO NO. Ive been watching since i was 10- 25 yrs. I have a 3 yr. old daughter, and that is my only escape!

  • ELAINE hAYNES

I have watched it all my life. I would hate to have it cancelled. I love Hope and Bo. they are my favorites on there.

  • Renee

I read the Parade article this morning & I think they are just throwing that possibility out there. I would be surprised if Days doesn’t get renewed for another year since their ratings have been up lately.

  • tristd

I think we should do some writing to NBC because it is not ok!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ms Salem

Unless the rating had dropped considerably, which I find hard to believe, why would they cancel it? Remembering Corination Street in the UK is about to celebrate it’s 50th year soon.
The article actually ends saying ‘These are tough times for soap operas, and Days’ 44-year run may end in September’ it’s at this point in time, I feel, speculation possibly bought on by the death of Francis Reid. Maybe the magazine feels once the ‘main characters’ being Mr and Mrs Horton have both gone on to a soap in heaven there is not another couple who can carry on.
I personally would be very dissapointed if they cancel the show. I feel a lot of Days fans would have a lot to say to the network regarding this.

  • linda pottr

I read the same article in Parade mag—-please say it isn’t so——what are they going to replace it with? Another reality show? I’m sick of them taking programs off the air that people enjoy watching. If Days go——I refuse to watch anything else—guess they’ll have to find another viewer !!!

  • amy

They better not cancel DAYS! I have been watching since I was 3 yrs old. Im 32 now. Both my kids, 9 1/2 & 3, girl & boy repectively, watch the show with me all the time. My little boy loves it. He has his favorites and his not so favorites. I love the show. Sometimes the story lines can drag, but that’s soaps for you. I will be so heartbroken if it ends. It’s the only soap I watch.

  • http://www.brightside-photography.com sarah

silly!!! days is the best soap on tv, & i don’t think it is going anywhere! :) besides haven’t the ratings gone up recently??

i agree that this is just Parade magazine’s hypothesis, based on the trends in tv lately… but they should know that if there is any truth to this, days fans will fight it all the way!!! :)

  • haley

I thought the same thing when I read that! But after looking it more carefully I realized it was just Parade’s two cents on the subject. Days has been doing great in the ratings lately-breaking many of their own past record highs so I really dont think they will go anywhere!

I’m like Elaine–I have watched all my life and its my favorite show!! I would be lost without it!

  • Katie

as far as I know, NBC still has not renewed DOOL past September of this year. I believe that is what Parade is simply eluding to. My guess is, now that Feb sweeps are over, we’ll probably see another 18-month renewal in the next month or so. If NBC was going to cancel them, I’d suspect they would have already decided and we’d know.
    -
btw, lmao at the suicide pact joke, hahaha

  • Maureen

Days came on the air exactly 2 months after I was born, I remember watching Days with my Dad! Yes my Dad, he worked 2nd shift :) , my husband, like Jabie, watches now because of my addiction. It would be a horrible crime if they cancelled this show. But I agree, I sincerely doubt that Parade would have this information prior to anyone else, so I’m thinking it’s just a theory or “what if” get your fingers ready ladies & gents, if this is out there, we need to nip any ideas in the bud, write the network and let them know of our fierce loyalty and live for this iconic soap! United we stand!!!

  • Kathleen

My mom asked me to watch Days with her back in 1965, the year I had graduated from high school.
CANCEL IT??? OMG…NO! I’ve seen different story lines, interactions between the characters, ahhh NO they wouldn’t do this, would they??
I guess it would be more than the end of an era, it would be the end of the BEST soap I’ve ever seen, and the rest I’VE left behind, I only watch the best.

  • Maria

this kind of talk always starts rumors and talk when days is about to sign new deal with NBC. Don’t believe until I hear from real sod/SOW says it or nbc comes out tells us.

  • Xandosa

They were talking about Maggie and possibly cutting back…

  • Darian

that statement is total speculation. however, i do believe if bo and hope -how boring i think they are- aren’t reunited soon they will lose more viewers than they already have.

  • Laura Wood

These rumors go around all the time, and I’ve seen them happen when the ratings are low, so I wouldn’t worry to much about it.

  • Lo

how can they cancel days when its the best soap on tV right now. what the hell are they thinking????

  • Heather

I swear if Days gets canceled I will NEVER watch NBC again!!!! I know I am only one person but that would be one less person watching it & Im sure there are others out there that feel the same….DAYS is the best soap EVER!!!

  • Melissa M

No, it won’t go off. It’s better now than it was 5 years ago… and it’s done so well the last couple years! Some “jackhole” just screwed up her words I bet and tried to stir up some drama!

  • chrissy

its just a terrible sad rumor. Casey Deitrick just said on twitter Days it not being canceled

  • dom

I WOULD CRY FROM HERE TO ETERNITY AND FOREVER MORE

  • Rebecca

The way i read it was that Susan may be leaving in September, not that Days is ending.

  • debbie r

If you go back and read the statement in Parade again… it wasn’t her quote. It was printed in addition to Suzzane Rogers’ quote.
Let’s hope it was just a piece of gossip that isn’t true.

  • shannon Manthei

TV will not be the same if DAYS goes off the air. I will never watch another NBC show if this happens. Days is the only soap on TV today that is worth watching. It has the best looking actors and the most publicized actors I know. What other soap goes out into the community and puts on charity events like Days does. This soap has too many fans that would raise a ruckus if it was canceled and I am one of them. I will be the one screaming loudest if this show is canceled. It is the only show I look forward to watching everyday.

  • Sue

Well, maybe we should start to write the PTB. If the contract is up in Sept, they would make an announcement in April of weather they cancel or renew the show. Guiding Light was cancelled April 1 and went off the air in Sept.

Why wait till after the big shots make the decision.

  • Anna

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sheri

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!! That would break my heart. I have been watching this show since the 70′s and it has become such a routine to watch it every night (we DVR it) Even my 12 year old loves it as much as I do, since it has been on in our house her whole life. It will be a sad day when & if they do cancel DOOL!

  • Bobbi

I’ve been watching Days for over 40 years. NBC almost killed me when they cancelled ‘Another World’. Not sure if I would survive losing Days. But, the ratings have been up for a while now and I can’t imagine that NBC is eager to lose more loyal viewers. So, I’m just going to keep a positive thought and throw a few prayers in for good measure!

  • becky

I started watching this show months after it started. I was 8 years old. I have followed it all these years. I think my heart would break.

  • Tina

My mom and I used to watch days when I was younger and now my daughter, my husband and I all watch it. It would be alwful if they take it off. Please say it isn’t so.

  • Lori Y

NO NO NO,,,,say it isn’t so,,,Days is the only reason I watch afternoon TV,,besides,,do they want to see a bunch of soap jumpers like they did when they took Passions off????

  • Barbara Kwiatkowski

I wish I could say that it’s not true, but I have heard from another source that it will end by the fall season! I now glad Mrs. H.(Francis Reid) will not be upset by the news!

  • Barbara Kwiatkowski

I wish I could say that it’s not true, but I have heard from another source that it will end by the fall season! I am now glad Mrs. H. (Francis Reid) will not be upset by the news!!!!

  • Terra Gentry

I recently got my mom AND dad watchign the show again. my dad has myesthenia gravis and when i heard maggie and the real life actress both are have the disease and a storyline was coming up about it I told them about it and now they are getting all into it! for the love of God don’t cancel it!!

  • Whitney Hunter

Stop taking off actors/actresses that make the show & ratings won’t go down. Also, it would help if story lines aren’t played out for months at a time. A few weeks is plenty. It gets boring after a while to see the same thing going on for 2 or 3 months.
